Why Antivirus Alone Is Not Enough for Business Security
Antivirus is one part of protecting a business computer. It cannot guarantee protection against every attack, prevent every account compromise or replace a recovery plan.
Protect devices and accounts together
Device protection helps detect or block malicious activity, while account controls address how people sign in and what they can access. A business needs to consider both, alongside software updates and recoverable backups.

Ask who responds to an alert
A security product generating an alert is only part of the process. Decide who receives it, who investigates it and who can authorise action. Confirm the systems and coverage hours included in the service agreement.
Email protection has a separate role
Unwanted or deceptive email is not necessarily evidence that a computer has a virus. Email filtering, account security, domain authentication and staff awareness address different parts of the problem. Review the whole path instead of assuming a new antivirus product will stop all spam.
Keep a recovery plan
Identify the files and services your business needs to resume work. Confirm backup coverage and who checks restoration. Record how staff should report suspicious activity and how the responsible person can be contacted.
Review your current coverage
- Which devices and accounts are included?
- Who follows up failed updates or disabled protection?
- Who investigates alerts and approves a response?
- Which data is backed up and how is restoration checked?
